About Me:
I write a lot–books and other publications, too. I read often. Right now, when it comes to books, I write novels for preteens and teens.
I am developing a series of books centered on preteens and teens that live in the same urban community. My first one is a middle grade (preteen) novel that launches September 1, 2008–TANEESHA NEVER DISPARAGING. It's about a bullied, urban Buddhist girl. Wisdom Publications—the Dali Lama's publisher—is publishing it.
I've written a sequel young adult novel (teen) from the point of view of the troubled, bullying teen girl in the first Taneesha story. The teen book is titled HIDDEN JEWEL.
I've co-authored a 7-book series with Dr. Linda Bradley of the Cleveland Clinic–TEEN SISTERS' HEALTH–A BODY, MIND, & SPIRIT WELLNESS GUIDE FOR GIRLS OF COLOR.
I am the Executive Editor for UPRRISCorp.com—an online health information provider. For more info about me and my books visit my website: mlavoraperry.com.

I enjoy walking and riding my bike outside but I'll do the treadmill if I have to–and in the winter, I have to. I have a Bally's membership that I rarely use. My 12 year-old daughter especially likes to roller skate. I don't take her skating as often as she wants to do it. But we go together sometimes.
Since November 28, 1991 I've been married to my best friend. We have 3 energetic children together—a girl, a boy, and a girl. I'm also the stepmom of 4 terrific adults—2 young women and 2 young men. And I'm the grand-stepmom of 2 baby boys with a girl on the way.
I've got remarkable parents–Mattie M. and Rudolph Perry, Sr, who is a Baptist preacher. My mom and dad are my examples of strength in storms, love always, and the reality that learning and growing are life-long journeys.
My sister and 3 brothers are phenomenal, loving people (my oldest brother, Rudolph Perry, Jr., died on March 19, 2000). And thanks to my siblings, I've got great neices and nephews who range from babies to grown folks. My kin marry good peoople, too! Which makes our family grow in a beautiful way.
